Hillcrest Study Shows Strong Results with the OYO Portable Gym
Dr. Ryan Harrison, Director of Wellness at Hillcrest, has been using the OYO Portable Gym (formerly branded as DoubleFlex) in group exercise classes at Hillcrest for over a year now. Recently, he conducted a study, in partnership with the University of La Verne’s Kinesiology Department, which examined the effects of working out with the OYO Portable Gym twice a week for 45 minutes over a 12 week period.
The study results were quite impressive:
Participants would “like to continue exercising with DoubleFlex [OYO Portable Gym]”
Participants that indicated “the DoubleFlex is a great fitness device for older adults”
Participants indicated they “can complete activities of daily living easier than before”
Participants that reported feeling stronger.
Participants that reported that they “can complete activities now that I couldn’t before the study”
The study also included an Up & Go-timed mobility test. 39 percent of participants met suggested scores at the beginning of the study, while 71 percent met suggested scores by the end of the study, showing marked improvement in mobility. This also correlated with improved executive function, mental flexibility, and lower risk of falling.
